Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

Job Description

Merlin System Solutions is seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to support our growing portfolio of federal clients in the Washington, DC area. This is an onsite position requiring an active Secret clearance.

You will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining cloud infrastructure in government cloud environments. You'll work with Kubernetes, container platforms, and Infrastructure as Code tools to build resilient, secure, and scalable infrastructure for mission-critical applications.

The ideal candidate is passionate about automation, has experience with government cloud environments, and enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges.

Required Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph
• US Citizenship required
• BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field with 4+ years of relevant experience
• Strong experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes or OpenShift
• Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi
• Configuration management experience with Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
• Strong Linux system administration skills
• Understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, firewalls)

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with AWS GovCloud or Azure Government
• Red Hat OpenShift administration and Certified OpenShift Administrator
• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) certification
• AWS Solutions Architect or Azure Administrator certification
• Experience with service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd)
• Monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)
• GitOps workflows with ArgoCD or Flux
• Container security scanning and hardening
• Experience with FedRAMP or FISMA compliance requirements
• Scripting experience (Python, Bash, Go)
